Beware of the Scam! How to prepare yourself to hear the voice of God.

I almost got scammed out of $200!  Let me tell you what happened. . .

I don’t know if you know but I am in a little financial situation right now.  I am waiting patiently for supernatural relief.  It is exciting to wait and see how the Lord will miraculously fix things to work out in my favor.  And so I wasn’t really surprised when a man called me on the phone and tells me I won $9,200.00!!

I was like “oh yeah oh yeah, this is it! Thank you Jesus!”  So then the guy on the phone proceeds with the explanation of how and why I was chosen for this “Grant.”  He told me it was a grant from the government that I could only receive once in my life and that I had to be responsible with how I spent the funds.  He told me it was part of the American Recovery Act of 2009 where President Obama signed a bill to help stimulate the economy by granting hard working Americans like myself with funds that I do not have to pay back.  I told him, ok sounds good, when do I get the money?  Now, I’m not a complete idiot.  At this time I’m like, this sounds like a scam and if he asks me for any personal information, that was it, I’m hanging up.  But he didn’t, he gave me a confirmation number for my “case file.”  He told me I had to call another number for his supervisor to verify and review my grant  information.

So, I said what the heck, I’ll call the number.  It was a Washington DC number.  A man answered, there was lots of noise in the background like it was a busy office.  He asked for my case number, then he claimed that he could not find my file.  He put me on hold.  Me, still being skeptical, said a little prayer, “Lord if this is real, let it be for me. . .  and angels start putting everything in motion that needs to be in order so that I  can receive the blessing that God wants me to have.”

After leaving me on hold for a time, the young man came back on the phone and said that he found my file.  He asked me some general questions, then gave me three options  to receive the money: direct deposit, Western Union (cash), and I forget the third because as soon as he said cash, I was like yep, that’s the way I want it.  So, I told myself, “do not give any personal information!”

I also asked myself, if this is the government, then they should know my address, so why can’t they just mail me a check.  I go directly to my computer and typed in Google “American Recovery Act of 2009.”  Ok, that checks out, there is a such thing, but this has to be a scam.  He asked me again how would you like to receive the money.  I said Western Union.  He said fine, and that I would have to find a Walgreen's or CVS near me and I would need my government issued ID.  He said that I would have to stay on the phone with him to make sure that I received the cash in hand.

Now, it really didn’t take all this time for me to know that this was a scam.  God revealed that the first time I prayed about it.  I was just curious what the scam was and how they would try to trick me.  So, he wanted me to pay $200 for a registration card in order to receive my $9200.00.  I told him great!  When he sends me the $9200.00 I’ll send him back $200.00.  He didn’t like my suggestion.  I told him I did not have those funds at this time but I would have them as soon as he would send me the money.  He claimed it didn’t work that way.  I said ok, then he can send it to me direct deposit.  He said, oh no that is no longer an option.  I told him, well i’m sorry I guess I just lost out on $9000.00. He asked me if I could ask friends or family for the money because he didn’t want me to miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity . . .

Side bar here:  I applied for a government grant before.  The government just doesn’t give away money, especially the same day.  There is paperwork, verifications, and more paperwork.  But I was being entertained so, I kept going . . .

I told him that I would pay a dollar if he paid the rest. Then he said “no ma'am, but I will pay $100.00 out of my pocket and you would only have to pay $100.00 for the verification card to receive your money from the Bank of New York.  I said that was great, but I would rather him just send me a check in the mail, I’m sure the government has my address, thanks so much.  Then I finally hung up.

I was a little down from my initial excitement from the possibility of winning money but I still know that God is able and I am waiting for my supernatural blessing!!  My financial breakthrough may not come in the source of money, but my eyes and ears are open to know what the Lord has for me.  I continue to be thankful for what I do have, and I know that I am extremely blessed.

Beware of the scam!

Listen, this scam, I’m sure is going around across the country so be very careful.  Always keep your eyes open for the scam.  Use past knowledge that you already have and ask yourself, can this be for real?  Now, I’m of course changing the conversation to the spiritual side of seeing things because the enemy is always trying to find a way to deceive us.  We have to read and study the truth in order to separate the truth from the lie.

In this situation the truth was that there was an American Recovery Act.  The lie was that I would be able to receive the benefits from this bill (written law) anywhere else but directly from the source, the government.

God has a government.  It is a Kingdom government.  In this government he has written laws.  He has written covenants that not only spell out what we should follow but identifies the benefits and how to recover those benefits.

The truth is that the only way to receive that eternal benefit is through Jesus Christ.  Don’t fall for the enemy's lies that tells you there is another way.  Equip yourself with the knowledge of the law so that you can distinguish the lie from the truth.

I want to explain to you how the Devil works real quick . . .

The enemy will send a representative to come to you when you are down and when you are weak.  He knows that it easier to deceive when you might not have all your defenses up.  Now, beware because he knows that you are desperate for answers.  He wants to trick you in giving up some useful information.  Don’t give out your personal information!  Sometimes he will get you talking to him just so that he can determine your strength.  This is a warning, you must be equipped with the word of God so that you are not fooled by his temptations.  It might sound good at first, but he just wants to cheat you out of something by promising you something that he knows you want.  He will say that he wants to stay on the phone with you the whole time to make you comfortable but he is really just gathering information so that he can use it to steal your inheritance.

I want to explain to you how God works real quick . . .

God will speak to you, through his spirit, Jesus Christ, when you are in a tough spot.  You have to be willing and available to know his voice on the other line.  You are going to get lots of calls some will be lies, some will be truth.  You should be able to distinguish the truth from the lie.  Jesus wants to be on the phone with you, constantly, he wants you to talk to him and he wants to talk to you, guiding you and giving you directions in order to navigate yourself through this life.  You need to understand how his Kingdom works so that you can make your request known and angels will then move on your behalf.  This is God’s way of doing things.

Suggestions for you:

Make your mind Google for the law of God!

We need to be prepared to hear God’s voice.  We do this by making his truth become part of us.  We do this by reading, studying, and remembering his word.  In order to help myself remember scripture and allow it to enter into my spirit, I started to write scripture down on index cards.  I will review them by reading them everyday.  Learning things by rote can be very useful.  Once the word is a part of your long term memory, then it can enter into your meditation and prayer life.  Commit the scripture into memory because it is food for your soul.  Whenever you need an answer to something you refer back to the word that is sown into your heart.

I pray that this was helpful to you while you continue on your journey to find your purpose.

Until Next Time
