How can I find peace, happiness, and calm in my life?
#1 Breathe
#2 Let go, Let God
#3 Spend sometime with the Holy Spirit
#4 Think Happy Thoughts
What exactly does that mean and how do we apply it?
Simply said: God makes you think about things differently . . . with God you can think yourself happy. You can think yourself full of energy. You can think yourself awesome! This is a benefit for living your life for God.
I often get tired, this is normal, I’m human. I'm also a mom, so I have to make sure the kids are taken care of, dinner is cooked, and the house is clean. I'm also a sister so I'm running around with her to bridal shows, having meetings to plan showers and parties. I'm a wife, so yeah, you know. I'm also a writer, and need to write and read something everyday. I'm also a Christian and I really enjoy my time with the Lord, so I pray, read my bible, and work with the youth ministry. I'm a friend, so I listen, I talk, and I discuss. I run errands, pay bills, go grocery shopping, cut coupons, wash clothes. I'm still trying to find the time to wash my hair, but first I have to do my taxes! So on and so forth . . .
Breathe!
Most of the things that we do from day to day are just distractions. God can calm you down and give you the mind to focus on what is important. Food, shelter, clothing: he has that, he tells you not to even worry about it. Protection for your family, all done. Only thing he asks is for us to spend time with him and he will direct us. He will focus us on what we need to do. No stress about it. The Lord will give you supernatural energy just to power through whatever it is you need to do.
Let Go, Let God!
Life can get overwhelming sometimes. The only thing that can bring me to calm and peace is when I let go and let God. He tells me to breathe and let him handle it. I listen to him, and I let it all go. He helps me think myself calm.
Spend time with the Holy Spirit
God tells us that when we live our lives for him, we are welcoming the Holy Spirit to plant seeds of righteousness. These seeds then eventually grow and grow until they produce fruit. The fruit from the spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, self control, and meekness. (see Galatians 5:22-23)
We gain these virtues by constantly developing our relationship with God and therefore constantly growing. So one very important key to peace, happiness, and calm is spending time with the Holy spirit.
Remember the sisters Mary and Martha? When Jesus and his disciples came to visit, Martha was so busy trying to prepare food and serve that she was missing the most important part of Jesus's visit. Martha was upset with Mary for not helping her but Jesus said "Martha, Martha thou art careful (worried) and troubled about many things. But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her." Luke 10:42. Mary was at peace because she was spending time with the Lord. She was getting the spiritual nourishment that she needed to create peace, happiness, and calm in her spirit.
How do we spend time with the Holy Spirit?
Try this:
Try committing a scripture to memory once a week. If not once a week, try once a month. Everyone is at a different step in their walk but reading and memorizing scripture really does help.
This is a scripture that I am memorizing for the week:
For as much as Jesus has suffered in the flesh, arm yourself likewise with the same mind, for he that suffers in the flesh, ceases from sin that he no longer lives his time for the flesh, to the lust of men; but to the will of God. I Peter 2:1-2
This means that when you live your life for God, you just have a different set of priorities. You also have a different perspective on how things work. Being a Christian doesn't mean that everything is going to go your way and that life will be smooth sailing all the time. But it does mean that you have help that will sustain you through all your trials, weaknesses, and dilemmas.
Think Happy Thoughts
Living for God Changes Your Way of Thinking!
The word says in proverbs: “As a man thinketh, so is he”
So don't worry be happy!
Think different, think happy thoughts and don’t be distracted by the world. God has it all under control. I know what you are saying, It can't be that easy!? You are right, it is easier said than done. It takes practice to live a life of peace and happiness. You have to work at it. It takes spiritual exercise and dedication. This is why you need to find a community that will help you stay on track and help you walk your path to fulfillment and purpose.
Feel free to contact me and we can discuss finding a church home or online community that will help you on your journey to peace, happiness, and calm.
Until next Time
