We must know that God loves us so that we can fight against sadness and depression.
The burdens of depression are real feelings that we should not ignore. Instead we need to learn how to cry out to God like King David:
“Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call you speedily. . .” Psalms 102:1-2
These are hard times to live in. The world can seem like a very lonely place when you don’t have anyone to talk to. The enemy is stealing minds left and right and death encroaches our doorsteps with disease, depression, and poverty. It is a very sad time especially if you do not know the Lord.
God is calling for you!
You may not recognize his voice, or you may think that you are not worthy of his love. But God doesn’t work that way. He loves you because he is love.
"Yea I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee." Jeremiah 31:3
It doesn’t matter how tough life gets, God wants you to know that he loves you so very much. Yes, hurt is real, pain is inevitable, and depression can take you down low, but none of these things are an excuse to take your life.
This is why I am writing this post. Two of my former students just lost their mother because she decided that life was too much.
It seems that the world is so disconnected from the truth and people feel so helpless that they think the only way out is by taking their own life. This is a lie and a trick of the devil. God wants you to know that he loves you. He hears you.
I would like to share with you 12 more Verses that show God's love for us . . .
“For your father knoweth what things ye have need of before you ask him.” Matthew 6:8
He knows the heaviness of this world and wants to give you peace. . .
“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest in your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
The Lord wants to give us peace and happiness . . .
“The Lord bless thee and keep thee. The Lord make his face shine upon the and be gracious unto thee, The Lord raise his countenance upon thee and give thee peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
He loved us so much that he gave us the gift of life. . .
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
“But God who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us. Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)” Ephesians 2:4-5
He protects us and has plans for us. . .
“For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
He restores us . . .
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures, he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. . .” Psalm 23
He teaches us how to love and he desires a relationship with us. . .
“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love: and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in Him." I John 4:16
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” I John 4:7
“Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is fulfilling of the law. And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.” Romans 13:11
God is love. . .
“He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is Love” I John 4:8
“We love him, because he first loved us.” I John 4:19
In order to protect our minds from the wiles of the enemy we should know the love that God has for us. We should read, rehearse, and remember verses like these. God told us to keep our minds stayed on him and he will keep us in perfect peace. This is exactly what I am trying to do.
We all get sad sometimes, but when we get to that point where it seems that we can’t pick ourselves back up, we need to get some help!
Our help comes from the Lord. The purpose of life is to serve and grow in the Lord. I know that true happiness will come only if I live my life for the building up of God's kingdom . . .
So I encourage you to. . .
Sometimes I find myself concerned about many things. I am learning how to fully turn my concerns to the Lord. I ask him, what do you need me to do? What is my part so that I can get focused and not overwhelmed by life. What is the mission that you want me to fulfill?
You might hear church people talk about the end times . . .
What are the end times?
It may sound very silly to the unbeliever but we are at the end of the world. The world shall look for a sign but their will be none for them. But we as Christians should understand that the end times began right after Jesus died on the cross. Now many of the signs for the believes that Jesus talked about are coming to pass in our era. But the Lord said that we should not worry for the end is not yet.
No one knows the exact time that our Lord is coming back. It could be tomorrow, 100 years from now, or 1,000 years from now. Our job is to watch, pray, and continue to spread the word of Jesus Christ.
These are perilous times but we must change our perspective of the end times. We shouldn’t feel sad that it is the end, but that our savior will be here soon, and that should make us very happy.
I like what Francis Chan, a pastor from CA, said about the end times and I'm definitely paraphrasing but he said something like: “I look at the world and definitely notice that it is the end times but I'm not worried about what is going on in the world. Instead I am very excited about what this means for the church. . . God wants his people to have a relationship with him and to be close to him and to know him” . . . Then he asks the congregation "Is this your relationship with God? Do you know him like I know him?"
I know God, and this is why I am at peace.
It is time for all of us to wake up to the gift of salvation! Accept this gift today . . .
Pray with me: "Lord I am a sinner and I recognize that you are offering me a better way to live. You are offering me a life full of purpose. God I am tired of living a life that is going no where. I want to choose life and not death. I give my life to you so that I can live for you. I may not understand everything now, but I want to understand. I want to know the truth. I want to have a relationship with you. I believe, please help my unbelief. Amen"
