I’m guessing that you are always feeling like you are being dealt the bad hand. It always seems that bad things are happening to you. It feels like you are constantly under attack! Your car broke down, your paycheck got held, the insurance payment bounced, the kids are acting up, your spouse is nagging you, your boss is nagging you, and you never seem to get a break. You just want to scream!
At one point in my life it did seem like bad things kept happening to me. I thought it was unfair and I often got upset if I saw somebody else happy or doing well for themselves.
But Guess What? Bad things don’t only happen to you. We are all in this world of happenings. Things will keep on happening. We must realize that we draw the good stuff to us. Some people claim that this is the law of attraction. I however want to present to you the law of God.
I am not surprised that the law of attraction works. It is something the Lord wrote a long time before “The Secret” ever came out. It is funny but many people don’t know that there is a lot more to “The Secret” then just the law of attraction.
The bible says:
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Proverbs 29:18
Yes, this is in the bible, and perhaps where they got the whole idea for "The Secret." It is important to note here that the world system often claims that it is the original discoverer of things that the bible revealed centuries earlier such as: Meditation, the world being round, black holes, the Scientific method, and much more. But before we explore those, let us take the time to look at the law of attraction.
What is the Law of Attraction?
The law of attraction is simply the idea that if you focus on something long and hard enough, it will manifest itself into your life.
This is a bible concept. The Lord told Joshua to meditate on the word of God so that he could have good success. Meditation means to study and focus on something so that it becomes a part of you. When something good becomes a part of you, then good is attracted to you.
God wants us to study and focus on his word so that it becomes a part of us. When we do this we will find good success. The word of God gives us many directives to love, to be kind, to think positively, to be careful of what comes out of our mouths. God tells us to have vision, to pray, to expect good things to happen, to ask for things to happen, to think about good things happening. He tells us in his word to be thankful. He tells us to treat others how we would like to be treated. He tells us to reflect on what we learn by taking a day of rest. Yes, all of that is in the bible. It can be overwhelming, and it can be burdensome to fulfill all of these requests. So, I present to you an easier way, a simple way to attract the right things into your life:
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Matthew 22: 37-40
Hence, as Christians, we do not follow the law as a list of rules to abide by in order to fulfill our lustful flesh. We follow Jesus. We depend on him to provide our needs and lead us the way that we should go. This way, all glory goes to God and not the law of attraction.
The context in which the law of attraction is presented today is a new age idea. Beware of the candy that is presented by false truth.
We must realize how limited we can be in our understanding if we just start collecting a bunch of laws to live by. This is dangerous for our salvation. If we start learning all of these "tactics" to be happy we can easily start giving ourselves praise and recognition for our righteousness. Instead, it is God that deserves all the credit. We don't want to block ourselves from the free gift of giving our burdens to Jesus. Instead of trying to attract the things that we think will make us happy; look for Jesus. He will set you with the right mind to think the right way all of the time.
The way you think is very important . . .
Does all of this mean that the law is bad? No! However, depending on the way you use it and the motive you have behind it will determine what you will get back from it. The safe side is to be on the right side of the law.
The Bible Says:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
Luke 6:38
This means whatever you dish out, it is coming back to you.
Let us be mindful of this. Let us practice love so that it comes back to us. The law of attraction is insignificant when you live in the love of Christ Jesus. The father has good gifts for us, and he has made it easy to receive them. We practice loving each other.
I pray that this has blessed you on your journey to finding your purpose.
