Stinking Thinking

understanding truthful thinking v.s worldly lies

-Stinking Thinking

The greatest stinking thinking that I can think of is the world believing that Jesus is not the son of God and that he did not die on the cross to save his people from their sins.  This type of thinking will land you in a place you do not want to go.  But that is not what I’m going to talk about in this post. . .

The great thing about having a mind is that you can always change it.  I encourage you to change your mind into the right type of thinking.

I had a case of stinking thinking!

What is Stinking Thinking?

Stinking Thinking is when you carry out your life and your decisions based on a belief that you hold as truth. . .  You really convince yourself that what you are doing is the right thing to do.  It always seems right, it seems acceptable by the world, and it seems logical to the natural mind.  The truth, however, is that we need to check the word of truth to make sure that we are doing the things that the Lord says do.

So this was my stinking thinking:  “I don’t have to work because God gave me a ministry and I am supposed to concentrate all my focus on that.”

This was my thought process and I felt pretty justified . . .I had finally made the decision to be totally dedicated to the Lord.  I had finally made the sacrifice not return to a career that sucked away all my energy and time.  I wanted my life to change and I wanted to spend more time with God.

If you are not familiar with my story, I used to be an art teacher for the public school, then I got laid off, and now my husband is left to support the family with his soul  income.  Needless to say that this economy calls for a two person income just to make ends meet.  Long story short, our ends are not meeting.

I don’t write this blog to write how perfect my life is.  Life is hard sometimes.  I write this blog as a ministry to show you how to lean on the Lord through the good and the bad.  So,  this is a bad time for me.  I don’t have an income, but I know that I am rich.  I don’t have a job in the world but I know that I am on assignment for Jesus.  So, what is the problem you ask?  What exactly is my stinking thinking?

I have to work!!!  We are all supposed to work!

It is in the word:

"Go to the ant, thou sluggard, consider her ways, and be wise.  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.  How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard?  When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep.  So shall thy poverty come as one that traveleth, and thy want as an armed man.”  -Proverbs 6:6-11 (see also Proverbs 6:24-34)

“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” -Proverbs 10:4

So, based on scripture, I should have saved up money from my teaching job so that I could have a refuge for when I started my blog ministry.  But I didn’t do that, that was unwise of me.

(In my defense, I didn’t really know that I would be out of work.)

Isn’t the above statement what we all do?  We always try to make excuses for ourselves when we know we were unwise in a situation.

It is ok to admit that we were wrong in our thinking!

As we grow, God shows us our faults, and our strengths.  We use these lessons to keep growing and to help others grow . . .

God is funny!  He knew I needed a wake up call because I was very unwise with my money.  He needed to break me of the spending habit before I got myself in even bigger financial debt.  Our family spent above and beyond our means.  This, with in itself, was stinking thinking!

Today I am learning how to be a better steward of my money.  I am learning how to be diligent in my work in the ministry.  I am also learning that until I can make money with this blog, I need to get a job that pays something.  I still have the responsibility of helping my husband provide for this family.

Some More Stinking Thinking

We really need to stop playing Christian . . .

I want to give you an example of what I mean. . .

I’m not pointing the finger at anyone in particular but I have notice a pattern amongst Christians in the church.  We are getting really good at motivating each other to keep moving forward in our faith walk.  This is a good thing.  This is the premise of what I do and what I believe is a good thing.  But what happens when we get too comfortable amongst our own and we do not go out into the world to witness to non-believers?

Is this what God wants us to do?

No, the word says what good is the salt if it has lost its savor?  We are the salt of the earth and we are to enhance the condition of the people who are hurting, searching for truth, and searching for understanding.  They are looking and it is our job to share the truth with them.  It is our jobs as Christians to be servants and witnesses of Jesus Christ!

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.”  -Matthew 5:13

We don’t want to be good for nothing but we want the Lord to continue to use us, in whatever capacity, in order to enhance his kingdom.

Drop the stinking thinking that we should stay to ourselves and wait for the people to come into the churches.  We must go out and be fishers of men.  Some of us have a strong talent in talking and can do this more easily than others.  But we all can practice and we all can have our part in assisting in this process.

Let’s also stop thinking that when God gives younger people a new method to witness that it is evil and that we should protect ourselves from it.  Why are we as Christians so afraid?  If we are walking with the Lord the way that we are supposed to, then we will also be strong in battle.

Stop being scaredy cats!!  This is stinking thinking!

God did not give us a spirit of fear.  Christians should have a strong enough mind to see the attacks of the enemy in such things as new age philosophies, worldly ideas, and prosperity trickery.  If you are a beginner Christian, then seek guidance from your support system, your church family, and other Christian communities.  Do not by any means get caught in a trap.

All things belong to God.  God told me that all of the things that the devil tried to steal and claim as his own, God is going to take it all back.  All knowledge belongs to God, all truth, everything in the earth belongs to God.  The enemy just tries to take the truth, add a little lie and then call it something else.

The enemy is an incomplete complete liar.

He will omit things just to trick the weak mind into believing a lie.  But through Christ Jesus we are made strong.  So we don’t have to be afraid of the arrows that fly by day.  We don’t have to be afraid of anything.  God has everything under control!

“The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” -Psalm24:1

The world has a lot of stinking thinking going on in it.  A lot of this thinking is based on fear and worry. This is not of God.

Believers believe the word of God!

-but in order to believe it you have to hear it, you have to read it, and you have to gain understanding.

God is with you because he has sent his son as a sacrifice for us.  We celebrate his death and resurrection this weekend as a reminder that Jesus died to reconnect us to the source of truth.  Jesus died for our sins which kept us separated from the father in heaven.  Now that we are connected to him he will change our minds, and all of our stinking thinking!

God Bless you

Until Next time
