A Work in Process

Understanding God's plan for your life

This Christian Life 3

Before I talk about getting understanding, can I ask you something. . .

Are you a lazy person?

Are you a lazy Christian?

This following statement refers to most of us, but not all of us:

For most of us living it is easy to live in a world of ignorance.  It is easy to follow the program that someone else wrote for us.  It is easy to just go with the flow and not make plans for ourselves.  That way, we wouldn’t have to think for ourselves, we would just do what everyone else did.  We don't challenge this design we just accept it.  To me, an easy life is a lazy life.

So, I ask you my next question:

Why Can't people accept God's design?

Les Brown has a famous quote that goes like this:

“If you do what is easy, your life will be hard, if you do what is hard, your life will be easy.”

Is that not true?  We were all made to work.  The problem is that we forgot what our jobs were!  The first example of living that God gave us was how to work.  God worked 6 days and said it was good.

Therefore, it is good to work. Now we just have to look at God’s example of “How to work.”

This is the hard part about God's design for most people, we don't understand the concept of work in God's Kingdom.  Most of us think it is too much work especially if we are asked to give up control!  Well, the world system has fooled many into thinking that they have control over their own lives.  This is not wise thinking.

If your thinking is lined up with the world system you may think that the above quote is telling you to work harder, spend long hours working, work your body to death, don’t spend time with your family so that you can get ahead.  This is not God’s way:

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew 11:28-29

If your thinking is lined up with God’s system, you may understand concepts of self-development and growth.  You understand concepts of seasons.  You understand the concepts of learning how to manage what you have and having ideas to make what you have grow.  If you are developing understanding of how to make things grow than you are understanding prosperity. . .

We must keep applying these concepts that God’s is revealing to us so that we can help others.  We are in a special time of growth.  We are in a supernatural awakening of ideas, thoughts and cognitive processes.  It is necessary that we  keep applying these concepts.  When we approve on the processes, we make beautiful things.

God wants to teach us how to make something out of nothing.

God’s way entails, working smarter, not harder.  God’s way involves thinking and analyzing.  He wants us to use the brains that he has given us for what he has made us to do. God’s way requires you to grow in understanding.  In order to do it God’s way, you must invest in yourself.  You must learn the ways of the Lord.  Studying and applying, always meditating on the things above and not beneath.

We have to Transition our Thinking.

Labor is hard, but our work should not be . . .

Labor and work are two different things.  Labor has to do with a physical work.  This was the curse that was put on Adam to work the ground.  He had to physically work the land so that it would produce fruit.  Hence the meaning of  “The fruit of your labor.” (Gen 3:17).  This work is hard on the natural body.  Your work (your purpose), is your calling.  This work should not be hard at all.

In Genesis, God’s work involved speaking things into existence.  The planning process was very intricate and probably very long.  But once it was thought up, it was going to happen.  God’s work involved a process that many of us know nothing about.  God’s work involves knowledge, application of knowledge, and wisdom.  It is necessary to have these things in order to create.

Creation takes process.  In other words, creation takes time.

God's kind of work develops the spiritual mind.  Man's work only develops natural muscle which will expire and return back into the earth from which it came.

God doesn’t want us to be ignorant.  He wants us to get understanding.  Through this understanding he wants us to comprehend and begin to apply this knowledge.  Through application, we begin our journey in this wisdom.

All this learning and all this getting is a process.  When we start talking about process, sometimes we don’t get a full understanding of what it entails until we start creating for ourselves.  Being an art teacher puts me in a unique understanding of process.

In art, the process is the step by step intricate detailed development and creation of a concept or idea into a tangible object.  It depends on what material (medium) you use, which then determines the method or process to  be used to create the art piece.  As an artist learns the techniques, and tools used to create, he learns how to create something beautiful.  In order to make an otherwise, blank or void medium into something beautiful to look at, one must first learn the process.

Although the fundamental principles of the process are similar,  each art work comes out differently depending on the artist creating it.  Each artist has his/her own unique style, that is only created or developed through the doing.  By practicing the process the artist begins to understand the importance of having a vision for the creation.  The artist thinks and plans his idea in his head (mind). He envisions the process, then attempts to create the vision by applying the concepts of the process that have already been practiced.  In order to achieve mastery the process must be practiced over and over and over again.

Still, through all the practice, any artist will tell you that the final art work never comes out exactly the way he first envisioned it.  There is even process in the process.  There is learning and growth happening in the process.  The final outcome is just the result of the artist’s best attempt of creating his vision.

This is the art process.

So what about God’s process?

His ways are not our ways.  With that said,  our understanding of how our process functions is far from God’s understanding of our process.  Haven’t you ever wondered why we don’t use all the parts of our brains?  God wants us to use our brains.  He would be pleased with us if we would get to the point where we are operating to our full capacity of his design.  He wants us to know his ways because he had designed us to be like him.  With this understanding we are more like him then we think.

Does this mean that we are little gods who have power to achieve our own destinies?  No, absolutely not!!!  We can’t do anything unless God allows us to do it.  We are nothing without God!

The only way that you can become what you were originally made for is if God chooses you to understand his ways.  This is why we have to study, and apply the concepts of work and the concepts of process.  This is God's process for us.  He is constantly shaping us into our destinies.

How can we expect to grow if we never start learning the process?

I know we often say, “I’m a work in progress,” but I hope this was helpful to you, to show you how you are God’s work in process:

I thank you for taking the time to learn about the process that God wants to take you through.  I encourage you not to be a lazy Christian.  I encourage you to study the word of God for yourself and learn to work.  In order to get a better understanding of what I mean by that, I refer you to three blog articles I did this week on being a doer of the word.  It explains a little more about what it means to work for the Kingdom.

verse 3

Be a Doer!

having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves

We are Not Perfect

I therefore, a prisoner of the Lord

Live Life Worthy of the Calling

God wants us to have wisdom.  He wants us to be connected with him so that he can train us up in his wisdom.  He wants us to start seeing things the way that he does. This will never happen if we don’t start spending time with him.  God desires for us to grow in spirit and in truth.

Have you ever heard of Kingdom Principles?  Kingdom Principles are Kingdom concepts.   They are the parts that make up the whole in order to enhance understanding of how everything works together.  God wishes for us to learn and understand these concepts so that we can start living in our authority.  As Christians, we have a royal inheritance that we can claim, both here on earth and in heaven.  We have to take the time to learn these principles.  Other wise we will continue to be trapped in a world of chaos, despair, and ignorance.

Take the time to learn more about God.  Learn how  to operate in your purpose.

Until Next Time
