There are a lot of words in the Christian vocabulary that may not be understood or correctly interpreted by the secular world. One of those words is “Favor.”

I place this word into quotation marks with the intention of emphasizing the fantastic-ness of its benefits. Favor from the Lord is when things in life seem to go your way. Favor is when you experience God’s love in so many ways in the physical world, that you recognize it as a benefit for believing in the Lord. There are benefits in being part of the Kingdom of Heaven. There are benefits to God’s love.

In other words, favor means that . . .

Things work out

Don’t get me wrong, being a Christian isn’t always rainbows and butterflies. Deciding to become a true Christian means that you are picking a side. It means that you are entering a battle and therefor should expect attacks for the enemy. However, when these attacks come, you can be assured that you will come out on top. You can be assured that the Lord is fighting the battle for you. You can be assured that all things work out for the good for those who love God and for those who are called according to his purpose.

Things work out for you and your situations when you experience FAVOR

I am currently going through an experience that is taking a lot of faith, hope, patience, and prayer to get through. This experience is exercising my trust in the Lord. It is also increasing the prayer life that will keep me calm. I am definitely experiencing a heightened level of stress and anxiety by being unsure about what is going to happen in this situation. These are two things that I try to avoid in my Christian walk: stress and anxiety. The Lord has to remind me to stay calm. I have to remind myself to:

Keep calm and Trust God

The thing is, I can’t imagine being under this type of pressure all of my living days. I can’t imagine feeling responsible for everything and everyone all of the time. This is not my job. Even as a mother, I feel like I have to guide my children in every step of their growing up, but I can’t do that anymore. Sometimes you just have to let things be. Sometimes you just have to give things over to the Lord. This will keep you more sane and more focused on what is important.

Christians understand that we do not control the world in the physical, but that there is a spiritual aspect of power that we access through prayer. Therefore, I continue to pray to the one who has authority and power. I pray to God through the name of Jesus Christ. I pray to Jesus through the power of the Holy spirit. I pray with the words of my mouth and the words of my spirit. I simply say “ Lord fix it.”

I’m praying right now for my situation and I am saying “Lord, fix it.” I tell him to take the cup of anxiety away. Take the stress and worry away, give me peace. One of my favorite verses tells us that the Lord will give us peace that surpasses all understanding. We just have to keep our thoughts and our minds on him. We have to think about his goodness and his mercies. We have to think about the “FAVOR” that he continues to have on us.

4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

I briefly remember the story of the three Hebrew boys who were sent into the fire by King Nebuchadnezzar. These boys, by the world’s standards, should have been very afraid; filled with worry and anxiety about death. These boys, however, remembered the promises of the Lord and the favor that he always had on them. So they said to themselves that the Lord will deliver them from their current situation. They also said that even if he didn’t, that they still trusted that everything would work out. So these Hebrew boys were thrown in the fire but the fire did not consume them. The Lord came to their aid and protected them from the heat of the fire. He delivered them, untouched by the heat, uncinched from the flames, and with no smell of smoke from the blazing inferno. The Lord had favor on them.

I think about this story and relate it to our current world. So many people are under so much pressure to solve so many problems. So many people feel the weight of responsibility and the burden of performance that they can hardly function. Oh Lord, take this cup from the world and let them experience your saving grace, your loving nature, your soothing forgiveness and your FAVOR. Let there minds think on things that will give them hope for the future.

I know that things will work out for me because they have worked out for me in the past. The enemy is slick and will always try to throw us in the fire. However, the Lord is with us, he strengthens us and he can carry us. He has the ability to turn things around. He has the ability to work things out.

I don’t wish the spirit of anxiety or worry on anyone. It is a hard burden to carry. I give my concerns to the Lord. Perhaps in a later post I can share the situation that I am currently in and tell you how God made a way out of no way. I really need for the Lord to give me favor on this one. Please, Lord send me someone that can help me.

Keep me in prayer and I will do the same for you. I already feel the Lord working. Lord show me your favor as a benefit.
